Rahall wins endorsement thanks to lifelong commitment to Second Amendment and efforts in House

HUNTINGTON, WV – The National Rifle Association’s Political Victory Fund has officially endorsed Representative Nick Rahall for re-election.

In their endorsement of Rep. Rahall, the NRA stated “Throughout your career, you have consistently opposed all attempts to ban lawfully-owned firearms and magazines, and have stood strong against President Obama and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's gun control agenda.”

“West Virginians have the right to protect themselves and their families, which is why I have and always will fight to protect our gun rights and will stand up to anyone who wants to take our guns away,” said Rep. Nick Rahall. “As a strong believer in our Second Amendment Rights and a proud lifetime member of the NRA, I am honored to once again receive their support.”

Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America's oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. More than five million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services.

Dear Representative Rahall:

On behalf of our five million members across the country, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse your candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in West Virginia's 3rd Congressional District.

Based on your consistent and proven voting record on Second Amendment issues in the U.S. House of Representatives, you have earned an "A" rating from NRA-PVF in the November 4, 2014, election. An "A" rating is reserved for a solidly pro-gun legislator who has supported NRA positions on key votes.

Throughout your career, you have consistently opposed all attempts to ban lawfully-owned firearms and magazines, and have stood strong against President Obama and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's gun control agenda.

You voted for H.R. 3590, the Sportsmen's Heritage and Recreational Enhancement (SHARE) Act, a bill that would positively impact sportsmen throughout West Virginia and the country. Specifically, the SHARE Act would protect traditional hunting ammunition, open additional land access for hunting and fishing, and allow firearms to be legally carried on land managed by the Army Corps of Engineers.

In addition, you are a cosponsor of H.R. 2959, the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2013. This bill would ensure that law-abiding Americans with a valid concealed handgun permit would be able to carry their concealed firearm in any other state that does not prohibit concealed carry. You voted for a similar bill in 2011.

Congratulations on your "A" rating and endorsement, and thank you for your steadfast support of the Second Amendment. Good luck with your campaign, and we look forward to our continued relationship.

Sincerely, Chris W. Cox

Chairman
